See you Saturday at Loon.

Go to North Peak and make laps on Flume or East Basin and hit Angel Street or Triple Trouble or Ripsaw on South Peak. Stay off the blue runs on the front side. Loon won't have runs to scare you but, if you want to hit trails to improve your game, you can find them.

Thank you for the advice snowmonster, I appreciate it. :)

...I've heard that Loon Mountain doesn't have any runs that will take my skills to the new level which is elaborated in this ski resort review: http://www.mountainyahoos.com/SkiResorts/LoonMountain.html

Mountain Yahoo's report on Loon contains good factual information, except for one miss-captioned photo, but the opinions at times seemed based on a limited number of visits. I think lapping Triple Trouble with its bumps and double fall lines is a challenge. Occasionally the entire East Basin is left bumped and in my opinion that is when Loon is the most challenging. And its fun too.

I see...

What can you say about Ripsaw?

Is it really challenging and a top pick for experts like as written in the review?

Ripsaw is the real deal. Very steep and it's been very smooth the few times I've done it (no bumps to slow you down, and it didn't hold enough snow to make it especially edgeable). Also flume on North Peak.

As an off topic, something that isn't pointed out about Loon enough is that it is a well laid out mountain. The lifts are well placed. The two on mountain lodges provide a lot of utility, and it is pretty easy (and fun) to move between different trail pods.

Compared to the rest of the mountain Ripsaw definitely is steep. For comparison to another mountain that skies fairly easy I would say it is similar to Plummet (single diamond) at Mount Snow or Cascade (double but skis like a single) at Killington. They are all pretty steep and double fall line in places.

Agreed about lifts, very well laid out.
