Trip Report:
Great day at Magic today. Arrived at 10:15 and I was the 12th car in the parking lot.
I walked into the lodge to get my ticket and was the only one in there. Not another soul.
Headed up the grandma double which was a 14ish minute ride to the top. Tired getting to Twilight Zone from Betwixt but due to the map's incorrectness (showing Betwixt ending right above TZ, it actually ends like 50 feet past it), I had to settle for a run down Trick to Lower Redline. All were groomed and pretty good... basically fresh tracks.
Next run I headed over to Broomstick into Heart of Magician and then the Hallows. All 3 were quite a bit rocky and a few bumps here and there. Probably the least impressive conditions of the day.
Next up was Wizard to Sorcerer. Tried to get to Slide of Hans but it was closed. Wizard was a mess after the Hans turn with a lot of rocks. Sorcerer was pretty good... some rocks but more powder to play in.
Last run before lunch was Twilight Zone. Awesome trail... less rocks than most of the others and fun lines through the loosely spaced trees.
The cheeseburger and fries were excellent for lunch (and there were maybe 8 other people inside). After that, I hit Witch to Black Line. They were making snow on BL which hid the rocks underneath. I hit a bunch of them and even caused a bit of a slide with the new artificial snow.
Goniff was next which was a lot like Twilight, just a few more rocks and a bit steeper. Lots of fun.
Next was IMO the best bumps of the day, Talisman. Some fun bump lines, nice and soft, and pretty long.
Redline from Witch was next and was a blast. Lots of rocks and cliffs and the steep part halfway down is real tough with the thin cover.
That's all I hit as the lift is a slowpoke so I only got about 10 runs. Awesome day though and an awesome place that I hope to get back to this year, especially if there's an AZ day. I found it to compare to Beast a lot more than MRG, but just a sick mountain.
I'll be at Wachusett tomorrow morning and Friday night.
