Thanks to Matt for not only his passion for weather, but skiing as well. I'm sure we all wish more meteorologists were like Matt, Tim and Joe on NECN, who realize the benefits of winter and the winter sports industry on our overall economy here in the North Country. It is always refreshing to see a weather person note the benefits (and of course pitfalls for those that have to drive in it) of snowfall. Like most of you, I cringe (won’t names any stations here) when the weather person talks about snowfall and the anchor then chimes in on how miserable the weather will be.
So now, I have to get Matt and Joe up here to make some turns. Tim has been up quite a few times and is an outstanding skier who loves skiing in all kinds of conditions. So how about a Powder Day Matt?

Nice to see you in here, Matt. We look forward to your weather reports. As a Sunday River skier, I get a kick when you give a shout out to my home mountain. If you ever end up in the Bethel area, let us know. We've been known to barbecue in the Barker parking lot.

Matt Noyes....You The Man!!!

I guess I am like the rest of us and check out a host of websites, chatrooms, and newscasts for the most accurate forecasts for northern new england and especially northern VT. In my humble opinion, Matt Noyes and NECN are the most accurate forecasters and give a very detailed description of the basis of their forecasts. I have planned a lot of my weekends outdoor on his forecasts and they are very reliable.

Keep up the good work and if you have any pull with Ullr, PLEASE bring some snow!!

Allow me to join the Welcoming Committee. I only recently got clued in to your technical discussions Matt but immediately was hooked. Then it took just a few more minutes before my son reminded me you'd visited his 5th grade class last year, so thanks for that too.

I think you're doing good stuff with social media (including by dropping in here). I run hot and cold on Twitter but if you follow the right people it can be a great tool to get a lot of valuable info in a very short period of time, which can be critical when trying to make a last-minute decision on the day's powder-hunting destination. Now the trick is to have them all up posting the latest intelligence by say 4:30 a.m. for those of us willing to drive 3+ hrs for a day trip ;-)

I'll also have to check out your marine-oriented stuff during warmer weather. I fish offshore from time to time and have learned there are many variables that affect sea conditions, few of which get discussed much in the forecasts I've seen.

Matt Noyes has the Live Stream running while he is on the air so you can hear his live on air commentary on NECN then you can see the weather guys going nuts during the breaks between on air trying to get a handle on incoming reports of snow totals and adjusting and changing forecasting as needed. Matt and Joe Joyce did an hour straight Storm Center segment between 5a-6a with weather only without any other news. Really fun watching these guys work behind the scenes. They are really pulling hard for more snow!!!
