2 Hour Delay for me from school, seems like we're the only one in the area to get a delay, even Hunter-Tannersville has a full day. Don't think I'm going to be able to skip today though, finals are coming up next week .

FYI, we're blowing on Bleeker, Upper & Lower K, The Cliff, Racer's and Gun Hill right now, and the snowtubing park. You guys hear it second (PowderHound got it first), straight from the Snowmaking Shop.

Awesome first day this year at Hunter yesterday (Friday) . Even had some fresh powder. The kind only mother nature can make. I had to leave around 1pm. I skied every trail not on Hunter One. I did 13 runs and was about to load for one more run before leaving and then the HSQ stopped. I was in line about 5 minutes when someone said their was an accident on the top by the exit ramp. They had no idea how long a wait it would be. I had enough runs in and it was time to leave. I got out of the HSQ line and left. What a great day of skiing.

The most dangerous part of the whole day was getting off the left side of the HSQ.. There was two sections of wood exposed with no snow that grabbed your skis and flung you forward and then a hole at the end of the ramp. If that wasn't enough their was usually someone that had fallen down from the chair in front of you. :smash: I have skied in the Rockies, British Columbia, Austria and of course all over the Northeast. This is not acceptable . Totally not acceptable. :-( I usually try to be positive but this was just wrong. I did complain to the lift operator. A few runs later they did have some folks shoveling snow at the exit ramp. IMHO the slippery rug material that covers the wood has to be replaced on the HSQ exit ramp. What they save in electrical costs to stop and start the lift will more than pay for the new rug on the exit ramp.

Except for the HSQ ramp issue, I had a great first day for the 2006-2007 ski season at Hunter.

What about Clair's? You gotta blow on Clair's, She's getting lonely.

Just got in from riding.. Great day.. Really cold and windy..
Lot's of fresh blowing around so it was easy to stay in pow like stuff...

K27 "is" - I mean - "looked" awesome! Great snow top to bottom and on the runout. Or so - I - eh hem - think... :)
I bet it opens tomorrow... Racers should open soon too...

Flats on Eastside Dr were pretty scraped up but tons of snow on the side by the fence piled up..

Upper K27 is marked open for tomorrow ... Lower looks to open as well? (Not that I expect to be there, but perhaps next weekend.)

Lower K is open, I hear it is SWEET -- I'm going to throw myself down it tomorrow.

Racer's...not sure when that is opening but saw some patrol tracks on it today. We're blowing on Claire's now...hoping to open it very soon. Heard there are big lumps of snow over there...

We've got the Cliff (a favorite) and a few others open too, we're up to just above 30 trails.

the ramps

Jessica,
You are doing a great job, the snowmakers too! K and Racers were awesome. I have to agree that the off loading ramp at the quad and F were extremely dangerous on Saturday. I saw at least 50 people go down. Every once in a while the the liftie would throw some snow around. I know the wind was brutal, buit they should have been closed. A little water thrown on the ramp would have helped.

Yeah I know about the lift ramps. They definitely need to work on that....saw it on Thurs and Fri. I think they were struggling because of the wind but that's really no excuse.

the wind definately was an issue with the top of the quad - but they sprayed it down with water to make it slick again..

The F chair wacked me on the back of the head on Saturday... I got stuck trying to get off - board just stuck to the ground... i asumed it was due to all the snowmaking crystals embedded into my horribly dry base...

Great weekend... Upper/Lower K27 were outstanding...

I'm not a fan of F-Lift, but D-Lift is worse. There's such a steep incline on the D-Lift ramp and you have to turn almost immediately or you'll fly into the rock face, AND it's almost always icy. It's probably not the best situated, as a lot of beginners and intermediates use that lift to get to 7th Ave or whatever that trail is officially called. As far as I know we've only run it once, though, and are probably waiting because of the crazy ramp.

Just a fantastic Fri-Sat-Sun at Hunter!

Reserved trails were amazing on Sat; by Sun I felt like it was mid-winter.

How many laps did I turn on K, Upper Xover, Cliff, and Racer's?

P.S.: Karl admitted he was being a dick and will be writing some nice e-mails today. What a great weekend.
