Great article. Pretty accurate account of a day in Silverton, based on my one day there a while back.

Its scary/exiting enough arriving into the tiny parking lot next to an old lift, signing your life away and putting all the avy gear on. Then you get the Talk and start getting all kinds of unpleasant visuals. The good thing is, one run into it, all of that goes away and you start feeling pretty safe and in control of the situation.

The repeated hikes at altitude were killers to me, I felt completely spent after 3 runs but somehow, the guide pushed me to get 2 more before calling it a day.

I must say that I'm a bit envious. I'd just love to be able to get out there. I'm glad that somebody from this community has experienced it.
The high altitude would be a killer for me. The article said that Viagara is good for that??
Hmm.... Interesting.
I'm really wondering about the veracity of that deatil. Altitude sickness is a real issue for me.
I have been using acetozolomide with good resluts every time I venture up high.

A scientist from Pfizer was telling me Viagra was originally developed as a heart and blood flow drug, with some "interesting" side effects. They also suggest using ginseng to get adjusted to altitude. If you fly in 2 or 3 days earlier and do a couple of easy ski days before heading over to Silverton, you should be fine.

Cool article. I've heard of Silverton before but never knew the background on the "ski area."
