My nomination goes to ALLSKIING. On 2/23/2007, Dave left his house on LI at 3:15 am to make our 6 am meet-up ion my town. Then another roughly 2 hours to Berkshire East to ski that day. After an open-to-close hard day of skiing, Dave walked in the door at his house at 10 pm!

A very close runner up was bvibert who made the 4+ hour solo day trip MRG on 4/6/2007.

Ironically, or luckily for them, both those days were in my top 5.

Who do you nominate?

i nominate anyone who skied several days before x-mas(lets face it, to continue to ski on the same couple trails and still keep going is pretty core imo). also everyone who does the whole 9-5 thing and consistantly gets out every weekend and use every morsel of time to ski.

Hmmm, I think I put in 20+ days before Christmas! Don't know what I was thinking, but I did it anyway! And topped out around 110 days this year. I nominate me! Just kidding!

I would have to be the suck-up and nominate Greg. Anyone willing to put the time and effort into running this board (and two others) and accumulating thousands of posts deserves it! He clearly gets out every time he can, and when he does, he's on a mission to get better. He's grown significantly in his ability, and his appreciation for the sport is second to none. :D

Keep this poll open until my last run of the season, I might be in the running as my season still has one month left ;). My most dedicated skiing of the season so far was surely Dawn Patrolling Burke which turned out to be slab consolidated snow instead of powder but I couldn't care less.

I think everyone on here is pretty dedicated in their own special way. Guys like Greg have to work around married life with kids. Most folks do the Monday through Friday thing and give up their weekends to ski. Not letting the lifts interfere with getting some runs is also pretty dedicated. Having more days in no way makes someone more dedicated and vice versa. But overcoming obstacles to get as many days in as possible is certainly contribution to dedication. Driving through those ragging snow storms and risking an accident for great powder is certainly a dedication hall mark. Lots of High School age posters on the forum are dedicated to the point of choosing Colleges with a strong bias towards ski location. And then of course there are those of us that post on AlpineZone on Summer without a snow flake in sight  Beano skied with a screwed up shoulder half the season, right? That has got to be worth a mention. How about the dedication to improvement in technique? More folks on this board than I could even begin to mention posted about making huge strides this season and that effort takes a lot of dedication to not just skiing to enjoy the activity but towards accomplishing something not easily done. Anyone can just slide the skis sideways and survive but it takes dedication to really ski or ride the mountain.

It certainly involved more effort to get in 38 days driving from MA than it did this season to (potentially) get 50 days living in ski country. I bagged a lot of days in late November, December, and early January when conditions were deplorable and a one hour drive to ski on a season pass wasn't even worth the effort. Certainly no dedication there despite getting a few frozen groomer track days. But I didn't miss many weekends after MLK with exception of injuries :)

For the junior AZ award, I nominate my son. It's pretty impressive that he hiked for turns with me after Killington closed:

Warren-3.jpg

We skied 45 days together, through some really horrible conditions.

Thankx guys I'll let my son know you thought of him. He likes hanging with the gang and being welcomed as a young man. Dedicated skier/.boarder. Many deserve mentions, but don't need it. Salida,Austin, andyzee,JimG,Steve come to mind, They each have something that sets them apart.(personality to go with the turns.), but my choice is Old snowboardeMaine.. He had more passes than some folks had days out.

( side note). Terry would have let the 9 to 5 crowd is days out if not for an injury.. Not to mention is there is and outing he is there. He made serveral and was not even able to ski.

Last side bar. Roark was bit by the bug. He has gone from a weekend warrior to unable to handle his addiction. good Job.

HA!! That was a long day, I was a bit of a reck....Infact I still think I am tired from that trip;-) Next time I will go up the night before and get a room.
Grassi21 came to mind for a very dedicated skier. Took alot of solo trips and also a bunch of AZ trips. He also droped a bunch of cash down on a skiers edge and used it during the season to improve.

Not so fast... Bobr skied his tail off in excess of 70 days, but his son Connor was on his board something like 52 days!

I think that Bob's son is a bit older than Warren, who just turned 7. Warren has skiing on the brain and did a book report on Killington over Memorial day weekend, complete with a trail map attached to it for extra credit. I have been showing him pictures of the late season skiing at A-Basin and closing day at Mammoth, and we would go on if time and $$$ where not an issue this year.

Apparently Killington is his "favorite" mountain:blink:

Thanks for the kind words. Certainly wasn't expecting a mention when I started this thread. This was definitely my best season in terms of quantity, quality and strides in my ability.

What is the criteria for this award?

Criteria? I don't need no stinking criteria .. ;-)

What OSB said. Just a light-hearted thread....nothing serious...

Yeah, screw the criteria, just give me the award! Hey, what is the award? An AZ Skivy

Haven't thought of an actual award. But maybe the skivy idea ain't so bad:

;)

Maybe we should come up with other categories and have an awards ceremony. Call it the AlpineZonies or something... ;) :p

Thanks. That day at the BEast with you, Greg, and bvibert was one of my most memorable. Great conditions and company.

I do have to agree with Greg. ALLSKING gets my vote. During the BEast trip I heard about some of the other drives you made all for the sake of snow. Anyone from LI that skis regularly gets props in my book.

Cool, I did that for 16 years, including March 2006, when I picked up Warren from school at 2pm and we where night skiing at Bolton Valley at 8pm, after a 270 mile drive.

Where's my prize?
