Trip Report: Spent a few hours skiing Mt. Snow today. Pull up just before noon the the Carintha lodge. Was pleasantly surprised that the place wasn't packed. Rode mostly Carintha and Sunbrook lifts for the afternoon. 5 minute wait at Carintha, ski on for Sunbrook.

Conditions were pretty good, especially considering the the weather this past week.

I agree. The conditions were great! Apparently they ran most of the fan guns all night long last night and groomed over any of the "harder" snow.

We rode Ego Alley and Heavy Metal all morning and never even waited for a chair.

I was surprised given the holiday weekend that even the parking lots weren't completely full (mostly full, but not completely).

Great day for cruiser trails.

We got up friday afternoon and did a 1 hr snowmobile tour - way cool! i'd guess we did about 20+ miles some sort of slow backcountry, some cruising topping out at about 50mph. the mrs was a beast - we have to change her name to mrs SnowMobilSki!!!

This morning temps were around 20 and sunny, mild wind. after a few warm up runs with the girls on snowdance my son and i left the man made pow and edgeable hard pack for the north face. we celebrated his 11th birthday finding a few a soft pow bumps on skiers left under chair 10 then hit the trials glades where we were able to find some untracked areas and boot deep shots left over from thursday nights snow - bonus!

met up with the girls for lunch to cruise some fun groomers for the rest of the day.tommorrow should be fun too as the plan is to repeat the morning then head over to carinthia with the twin tips

Yup, as already said, it was quite good today, to the point where you really don't even need to add the disclaimer "inspite of this weeks weather"

Then, me and my wife decided to check out The Northface - My wife on Plummet

The light wasn't great on the Northface @ 9, so we headed over to Sunbrook and the score of the day! Freshies on Moonwalk - this kept us occupied for 4 runs

We spent the rest of the day jumping around the mountain, and found some good snow almost everywhere, sure there were some slick spots here and there, but between the snowmaking and grooming and mother natures 3 or 4" things were quite good

All in all a very good day! Tonight as I type this, there isn't a fan gun assault happening, just a grooming assault - should be another good day tommorrow with more bluebird sky forcasted

1) Avoiding crowds - typically it's as simple as just riding the fixed grip chairs instead of the high speed quads - today(Sunday) had a noticeably bigger crowd than Saturday, and lift wise, the main base area quads had 5 to 10 minute lines, where as the fixed grip lifts had atmost a 1 minute line(but more typically ski right on ) Once on the hill, Deer Run/Long John most every day will have the greatest skier/rider traffic - Main Face intermediate Cruisers located to the Left of the Grand Summit Express as you look up the hill typically are less crowded than the right side, and the Sunbrook Side is usually lighter volume too.

2) Best Terrain wise, most everything is pretty good right now, although the bump runs are currently featuring some solid bumps Cruisers - good, Trees - good, Parks - good

It was such a good day I even had a great morning without skiing - the collarbone doesn't hurt too much anymore, but I'll be slung up and out of commission for several more weeks. It was such a gorgeous day that after dropping my daughter off at Devo I went home and grabbed the rest of my family to come up and hang out. We hiked up to Charlies Chase to watch my daughter run gates for her first timed race - she did great and it was a fun scene. Then my son and I headed over to Grommet where he did laps on the tiny terrain park while my wife and I basked in the sunshine and watched him pop and spin. I was kind of floored at what a fantastic day I had without even clicking into my skis

Angus - If the Sundance chair is running and the Summit Express has a long line use Sundance to access Ridge, Hop, Uncles, and The Fantasticks.

If you like steeper terrain, head to the North Face quickly, the lines usually stay pretty reasonable over there.

Yep DrJeff said it best. Fixed grips are usually empty. On 2/15 the parking lot was full, but again I ski right into line on Ego Alley and Heavy Metal.

That being said, you should find some time to hit Mine Shaft on Carinthia. Although it's parked based, with a mini-pipe at the top, it has became my favorite cruiser on the mountain. The extra features Mount Snow has given it makes it very fast and can give you some great air!

another great day 2/15! morning criusers doing laps in the sun on thanks walt with the family off the sunbrook chair followed by some fun over at carinthia on prospect,mini pipe and the grom park with my son. after working up a sweat there making an ass of myself trying to spin a 3 (270 doesn't count!) we ditched the kids and mrs snowbunski and i did some cruisers on snowdance and standard , ending with a few bumps on ledge. a great weekend - my face hurts from sun, wind and grins! i'll try to post a few more pics later but my daughter has all the good ones and didn't bring her patch cord. i should add it was her first time since her acl surgery in october - great seeing her whole again! caught the torchlight parade / fireworks and now chillin with a double bag, great weekend!

I went here for the first time this past Friday, what a great time! Sunbrook was closed, and they were snowmaking like crazy all day. I think my favorite part was just having the right side of Snowdance to myself. What awesome powder there!

Yup, right side of Snowdance on a powder day, especially one where a bit of wind is blowing is usually great, since a decent amount of snow from the say 50+ yards of trail on skiers left blows over there and likes to deposit itself around the rollers over there
