Resort: Mount Snow
Date Skied 03/03/07 – 12pm to 3:45pm
Conditions: Snowing!, Fresh powder, un groomed trails
Trip Report: I was a little nervous as it was starting to rain in Brattleboro and continued with me right until I parked at Carinthia and then all of a sudden snow! There was about a 2 minute lift line wait for a chair at the quad.
The snow was coming down heavy. The first run was down to Sunbrook to take the Beartrap double. The visibility was not too great and it looked like Beartrap was mogul free. It was a pleasant surprise to see the bumps, not to small and not to big, just the right size and they were nice and soft. Not too many people skiing on this trail. After a few runs I took the Sunbrook quad to head over to North Face.
The first run down was the one next to The Outpost lift, Fallen Timbers. By now I should know the trail names as I ski here enough. It was bumped up and quite fun. The bumps were soft with some scratchy surfaces in between.
My favorite trail at North Face is Plummet. I did a few runs over here alternating between Little Steep and Plummet all the way. After North Face I skied down to the Summit Express by taking Skyline to Canyon to Ledge to Standard. There were a few people upset because the trails were not groomed and little moguls were forming. I loved the conditions!
I skied from the summit to the Sundance lift, hoping to ski the lift line trail, but it was closed so I skied Ridge to Meadow to the lift.
I ended up skiing back to Carinthia down Mineshaft to Prospector to Titanium. Again, there were no lift lines at the Nitro Quad.
I decided to head back to Sunbrook and take the quad up. I took one of the Dipper trails down and it was as if nobody skied it. Nice powder and I liked the ending where Big Dipper dumps you near the Quad. It was bumped up, and I assume this is all natural snow. I do not think I have ever skied these trails as they are never open when I am here.
I worked my way back to Carinthia via the Beartrap double and down the Nitro’s lift line. Right around 3:00pm the snow stopped. When I got to my car, there must have been about 4 inches of fluffy snow from this afternoon’s storm.
