I know some of you Mt. Snow regulars have had good luck using the Bootworks/the services of Nick Blaylock.

I am going to steer a friend to Nick in purchasing boots for his fiancée. I called the phone number listed on the website, and got a vmail saying they were closed until Columbus day. Is this true. Does anyone know of a way to contact Nick directly, or think that he might be willing to open up the shop/make a special appointment? We are going to be up this weekend with the potential customer + some other friends, and they want to get this done. Otherwise, they will prob wind up going to Surefoot in NYC, which I think is a bad idea (given my personal experience w Surefoot).

Thx to anyone with any info.

That sounds about right. At the end of last season, we were talking to Nick about inventory. He said he'd be fully stocked and running again around Columbus Day weekend. Just in time for Oktoberfest.

I beleive Nick owns a window washing business that he runs in the off season.

The ski shop in the main base lodge where Nick had his space last year wasn't anywhere close to being set up last weekend during the Brewfest. And even Mount Snow sports in the Grand Summit is still in mountain bike mode in terms of not having much fitting bench wise or new ski gear out yet

Nick though is good. Did a GREAT job with my new Lange's last year. And I really respected the fact that after examining my old footbeds that HE was happy with them (they fit my foot great) and didn't even think twice about trying to sell me a new pair (I think his exact words were something like: If YOU really want me to make you a new pair, I will, but you don't need a new pair)

If time is of an essence and your friend is willing to drive a bit, I highly recommend Shon at The Boot Pro in Ludlow. He worked at Northern Ski Works for years and took care of my families boot fitting needs for well over a decade. Now has his on shop at the bottom of the mountain's access road.

Pretty certain his shop is open in the summer. Never heard anyone give him anything but rave reviews. One of the best in the Northeast.

Nick also did a GREAT job on my and my wifes' boot back when we was at Green Mountain Orthotic Lab over at Stratton a few years ago. I have one leg slightly longer than the other and a slightly canted right foot so I always had trouble edging one ski. He fixed those problems with the footbed and my skiing improved dramatically.
I haven't visited him at Mount Snow but if I need work or new footbeds that's where I'll go.

Must agree The Boot Pro in Ludlow is amazing. Only one's I let work on my mangled feet. I was up 3 weeks ago and they were open and the porch was full of 2011 boots waiting to be put into inventory...so I'd imagine he's up and running.
