Crazy! I can't remember seeing about 36+ hours straight of winds like that  The mountain did what they could, and when you could get up the mountain (wind holds were issues all Saturday/Sunday) the snow surface they laid down was pretty darn good (even where they didn't turn the fan guns on).

To give you an idea as to how the winds were, Saturday AM, I awoke to find that my grill, with a full tank of propane had been blown about 5 feet across my deck  and from about 9PM on Friday night, through about dinnertime on Sunday there were regular "house shaker" gusts rolling on through.

Lines - well do I need say anymore than Presidents Say Weekend BIG crowds + the base area high speed quads being on wind hold for more of Saturday/Sunday then they weren't. The lines were long at times, very long. But most of the chatter I heard in/around the base lodge was more of "can you believe how windy + cold it is" rather than people being upset about the lack of uphill choices. Sunday about 11, just after both the Grand Summit Express AND the summit local went on wind hold  my wife and I waited through about a 10 minute line for Ego Alley and decided at that point that getting 1st bar stool at the station was of a higher priority then another big liftline ;)

As mentioned in another thread, I wasn't too sad that we were blacked out.

The wind Friday was nuts in Dummerston...we lost power for the first time this season. The cool thing about that was the moon. When I went outside to retarp a wood pile and fill the "flush bucket", it was really really bright out. What a cool sight.

Saw a few comments and updates on FB Saturday/Sunday that mentioned some wind holds. There's nothing the mountain can do about that at all. It sounds like they really pulled out all the stops with grooming and snowmaking. Excellent job on their part.

From the gossip I have heard, Sunday was the biggest day of the year for a lot of areas.

That's kind of funny when you think about it - people may have blamed it on themselves for wimping out due to the weather. :)

Sunday was a bit of a tough day, but only because of lift closures due to the high wind. Conditions on the trails, I would have to say, were very good considering the thaw/freeze. The summit quad was open at 8:00, a bear of a ride up in the wind and cold. Got a run in on Ego before it was closed for training. It skiid hard and fast but not icy. Lodge a little softer, and middle exhibition was pretty good where they groomed out the bumps. Olympic was real nice, my ROTD, Timbers also a bit fast. The North Face lift ran all day, with no line. Cascade was nice, Standard with new fan-gun snow, which also drifted over to Choke. Around 11:00, however, the winds really picked up and both the Quad and the trickle closed leading to really massive lines at Ego and #9 lifts. But the closure only lasted about an hour. My daughter made it over to Carinthia in the afternoon, and she also said it was pretty good without much of a wait. So Good Job Mount Snow! Pretty good recovery leading into a busy week.
