Just got back, a bit tired but here it is FWIW. Drove up to MRG Thursday night with a bunch of fine folks from Blue. Bed by midnight.

3/12 - First chair up the double. Conditions were awesome. Soft but firm enough for fun. Temps stated in the low 30s, maybe got up to 40 (?). Cloudy but no precip. Just did some warm-up runs then headed to the single. Antelope was insane, never ended... Loved it and it kicked my butt too. Next time will walk out on the road instead of the uphillish traverse. Bumps Bumps and more bumps all over the place. Paridise is out of my league but was fun watching the folks rip it up coming down. And people were all over the place whooping it up under the single. Awesome day. Quit at 3:30 uterly exhausted. Asleep by 8PM....

3/13 - Arrive early expecting first chair and spectacular conditions like yesterday. Nope, on wind hold. Plus the cold temps set up yesterdays soft stuff to a consistency similar to porcelain. They start spinning the Practice chair around 9ish (?). That got old fast. Word comes out (how does that start anyway ???) that the Birdland Chair will start spinning. We shrug and figure why not. Follow some ski instructors leading the kids up to the chair. We took the snow shoe trail up. Helped herd the little critters, maybe carry a ski or two. Fine. We get there after much sweat only to see the Sunnyside chair start spinning in the background......
In the meantime, many other people either skinning up or walking up the trails.
Condidtions put most of the mountain beyond me except for the lower stuff that softened up (lower liftline, beaver and periwinkle) Tele dudes where awesome. Dance party was happening with a lot of pretty-hippi-tele-chicks kicking it up. Great day despite the conditions.

3/14 - Clocks set forward and somewhat hungover we arrive at 8:30 to stare at the snow and blink a bunch under a light wet snowfall/r**n. Shrug shoulders and decide to go for it before the drive home. Place was pretty sparse people-wise. About an inch fell that night and the nighttime temps were not as cold so the porcelain was a bit more edgable. Single was still on wind hold and remained so when we left at 1PM. Lower stuff was edgable though. I got my a$$ handed to me in the lower glades but since no one was there that day I wasn't impeding anyone. Lower liftline was my fav. Wind was still howling on top with snow/sleet. A very light r**n on the bottom when we left. But the horizon was starting to clean up a bit too.

Anyway, along with Burke, MRG is on my "must return and often" list of mountains that thilled me this year. Sets the bar for me and lets me know how much more work (and fun) I still have before me. Damm there are some a$$ kicking skiers there.,..

Nice TR. Tough weekend for MRG with the weather happening on their busiest weekend of the year. If this was your first time there, you will have that much more appreciation when you get there again and the snow is epic. If you like Burke and MRG, you need to put Smuggs and Magic on the list too if you have not been there yet. Similar vibe and feel.
