Stayed at a friends condo with my GF in Bartlett monday night. Ride up rt.16 was torrential rain with occasional pouring rain. It was freakin nasty out but I was hopeful the rain and forcast of rising temps would yield some soft snow and spring conditions on tuesday.
We ate dinner at Delaney's in North Conway which was delicous as always. The roads were getting pretty nasty with all the the rain and some freezing precip that had fallen earlier in the Valley so we headed to bed.
Tuesday morning was dreary, cold and clammy with about a 300 yard visibility. We decided to take it easy and go to Banners for some breakfast to see the clouds and dreariness go away and it sure paid off!
I got on the mountain around 11 and the sun was coming out over the valley and temps were starting to soar! The gromers were like cream cheese under your feet. I would guess it warmed up to the mid 40's so the soft snow never got too mushy. I found a cut off late in the day that spit me out high on an unused/slightly closed trail that had been groomed and was untouched creamy courdoroy. Ka-ching! I slammed that thing till I left slicing out carve after carve of big G-S turns in the sun with noone around! It reminded me of skiing in late april.
Great day and super nice staff at Cranmore.
