condolences. I'm not looking forward to that day.

My dad also showed me the way. I still get out with him all the time, it's the best part about being back east this winter.

DMC - My deepest condolences.... Sounds like you have great memories of skiing w/ him and I'm sure you'll cherish those forever.

My dad was also the one planted the bug for us, and took us to the Mt w/ him when he patrolled in the 60's and 70's. I am very proud to carry on the family tradition that he started 50 years ago... We also sailed a Pearson 42' in the VI's for a good 10 years together.. something to be said for skiing + sailing, they just go hand n hand....

Be strong, and after the grieving period passes you'll be very lucky to have those memories - Don't ever forget them..

D: First of all i'm deeply sorry to learn of your loss . I just got in from a great day on the mtn and was shocked to see this . Know this : Your dad was a GIFT man ! and there is no doubt that his spirit THRIVES within you . Your zest for life is but a reflection of your special dad. What you have shared here is a rare example of a relationship well managed and well lived .

Now that you have made this transition in life and have time to reflect on all the wonderful memories you two guys MADE together perhaps you can relate to one of my regular routines when i'm skiing alone. My dad was the one who got me started too and loved winter sp[orts activities of all varieties AND

On occasion WHEN i'm skiing alone and experiencing a great day on a great slope i'll have a "conversation" with the ole man and say" Jump on the back of these skis and hang on , dad cuz You are gonna LOVE this run !

D: Cherish thre memories and honor the legacy -- Be Well man !!

A great tribute, DMC, to a man who obviously had a huge influence on your life. Glad you have those fond memories of meaningful times spent with him. So sorry that he, you and your family had to deal with his Alzheimer's. It's a condition that can claim so many people besides the one who has it.

Thoughts and prayers with you and all, especially tomorrow.

I'm really sorry for you Dave. It's a really hard time. While you have good memories to sustain you, the most important thing is that you got to spend quality time with him, sharing an interest you both love. Not everyone has a relationship with their parent like that. You are lucky and blessed in more ways than one. You now have a legacy to carry on. Wishing you the best.

I've kinda avoided this thread, as I'm still grieving the recent loss of my Grandmother. My deepest sympathy DMC.

I remember those ski trips with my dad as the best of times. Even when he was crashing into me.

wow thats an swesome tribute. I too enjoyed skiing and sailing with my dad. My mom used to sit in the lodge, happy that we were having fun on the slopes.

Is that Machu Picchu in the 3rd pic?
