Could you recommend dining venues in Stowe?
We have a three-year old boy, so an atmosphere that tolerates the usual behavior of a terrible three is just as important as the food.
Thanks.

Pizza - Piecasso

Pub Food - Gracie's While the Shed is great for it's beer and the brew pub atmosphere, the better fair is at Gracie's for around the same price.

all three have an atmosphere that would tolerate a three year old

Pie in the Sky has wood fired pizza and is kid friendly as well...Pie casso has a more varied menu.

I was going to say Pie in the Sky..I could live there..especially with VT microbeers on tap..

Sunset grill..in the dining room..they have pool tables by the bar..it seems in Vermont skitown bars..kids are usually tolerated..

McCarthys for breakfast..The Bagel for Breakfast..

On Mountain..The Octogon is the best spot..

I like Edelweiss for breakfast. 2 breakfast sandies out of the hot box and a large coffee. Eat in the car.

[FONT=Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular]I have been going to Stowe with kids from newborns to teens for a dozen years. The places below offer a nice balance between good food for grownups and a kids menu with things kids will actually eat (besides pizza). I agree with the above, let me add the following if you want to add more grown-up choices. I have eaten at these places many multiples of times. Prices are very reasonable.

Trattoria LaFesta (Mountain Road) - good Italian - more casual than the name sounds, nice atmosphere. The crowd is quite tolerant of kids including running around, unless they go totally nuclear (which would apply anyplace.)

Harrisons (in-town) - Great choices from beef to health-conscious. Be prepared for a wait, or go early (easy to do when you have little ones). Call ahead. Very popular but they don't advertise much. Has a lot of healthy offerings, women like it for that. It's downstairs, along the side. You won't see it from the street. really.

Most restaurants are super casual and as such I've even taken kids to Green Mtn. Inn and had a good macho man meat meal. Places I wouldn't go with a 3 year old include Trapp Lodge for example which has linen tables.

Now, if you really want a GREAT pizza and can give up the atmosphere (think a sub shop in the city), go to Pizza Joint on South Main St. The pizza is to die for. Mostly takeout, you can eat in on one of about three tables they have. It is extremely fresh, creative and simply yummy. Ask for a glass of home-made birch beer soda. It is excellent. We went there for the first time last spring. We couldn't stop saying good things - four adults and three kids. This is a preferred spot for locals. From the outside, it looks like another junky pizza place. The owners work there seasonally in the winter, real interesting folks. I think they are closed on Sunday.

There are others, but I think of these when I think of real little kids.

Stowe has a lot of good digs that simply don't advertise. They don'twant to pay the big bucks to advertise in the glossy mags or fancy web sites. Even though it may seem that Stowe has a total of two streets, Rte 100 and Mountain road, there are a lot of placed tucked around back that you will never find just driving around. While most of the ordinary folks have been exiled to places like Morrisville, there are still a number of good places at moderate prices that survive without all the Stowe Glitz.

http://www.harrisonsstowe.com/ Used to be Gracies for a long time food is still just as good.

"Pizza Joint" is the name of the other place.

Although I didn't get to visit all of the restaurants recommended in this thread, my family were satisfies with the ones that we did. Especially Pie in the Sky was great, although a couple of locals I met on the gondola recommended PieCasso instead.

I would hesitate to take little kids to Harrison's, though.
It was a fine restaurant in and of itself, but it was too calm for us to feel at home. Most of the patrons on the night were over 40's, even those who sat at the bar.
