Interesting comments about the show. You think after seeing this show, people will be more inclined to ski and ride in a more controlled safe speed and use a helmet? Maybe the slopes will be safer the more people that watch this show.

Resorts should record these shows and replay them in the lodge. It may be bad for business but then again the slopes would be safer. :spin:

I'll light the fireworks duct taped to your boots for you. You can go flying off the top of Falls and smoke out all the gapers in Eagles jackets

The "entertainment" value comes from the accidents and ensuing drama ("Will the boy get airlifted before he dies....?"). Lots of shots of people skiing and having a great time would be interesting for only about 5mins to 99% of the viewing public. So expect to see a lot more broken limbs, etc. And while that is a buzz-kill (I immediately thought about buying a walkie-talkie for my 10 year-old son when I saw this week's episode) it's also getting me in the mood for those sweet, sweet slopes....

oh and another thing. Why are ski patrol using twin tips? The spray snow in the face of the person in the basket.

You can watch the old Emergency TV Series here. This 1972 show got urban EMS off the ground.

As a veteran 20+ patroller at some of the biggest (and best) places in New England - I thought it was over dramatized... but OK. Many folks don't realize the level of training that certified National Ski Patrollers have to have. I was an inner-city EMT during the Gang War years = and I have to say that 90% of my Patrol colleagues are far better trained than most EMT's. Many are Doc's, nurses, Paramedics, EMT's Cops, Firefighter's......

The certified course takes at least one full season, and you have to recert every year there after - or go back to square one - if you stop for a season,

i just watched it like 15 minutes ago. its a good show but i will admit it was over dramatized. In one instance there was this girl who the show claimed had a shattered wrist and said she was in unberable pain. In the patrol room they showed her laughing about how her boyfriend ditched her.:smash:

I'm taping the Blue mountain episodes tonight from 10-11PM..I hope I get some video time..Everytime I saw them filming last season..I skied by the camara and yelled stuff like..."ski patrollers are heros" and"I love reality TV"

wow..Blue mountain has a 183 member ski patrol..part of that is due to the fact that they are open 14.5 hours on weekends and holidays and 13.5 hours during the week..

speaking of changes... I had my DVR set to record it, and it was on Mondays in TVGuide, I got 2 dumbheaded shows!

ARgh..

From the link... I love

"But Jim Dailey, Blue Mountain's marketing director, said he would like to believe the move also takes into consideration that Blue Mountain's episodes are more action-packed than those at Crystal Mountain."

Yes! PA has more amatures and gapers than anyone else.

It was funny, on the PASR board, think it was mentioned that Blue Mt has the highest amount of injuries/incidents in the Poconos. lol.:uzi:

The article which is from www.mcall.com The local newspaper put the Blue mountain website as www.skibluemountain.com when it's really www.skibluemt.com oh well..Blue has gone from 200k to 300k skier visits in the past few season due to expanded tubing and the coldest six-pack in the Poconos..they have great snowmaking and it's uber close..and really the Ski patrollers at Blue are mostly really kind hearted and avid skiers..it's a few bad apples who are a little whistle crazy and like hall monitors that are annoying..Anyway I haven't been in the ski patrol database since 2006...
