I get Stowe's daily snow reports via e-mail. The e-mail snow report from 7 am this morning claims 47 trails (which would be 100% open) and 5 lifts. When you go to their snow report on their website, they have 28 trails and 6 lifts and a claim that they "expect to have somewhere around 2/3 of our terrain open this weekend". Their interactive trail map showing open terrain has shown the same trails for a week.

Mark me if I'm wrong, but the internet is probably the #1 resource for ski conditions. Maybe the snow phone is a distant second. Any resort of Stowe's calibre should have their website acurately updated daily or at least not conflict with their e-mail snow reports.

Anyone know what's actually open at Stowe?

Why do I care? I'm heading up to Stowe for the first time 2 and a half weeks from today and want to know what the conditions/terrain are like in anticipation of our trip.

The guy who updates the web page it out getting fresh tracks. They have the snow dont worry. As long as nothing wet and warm comes through you are set up for your best December skiing EVER!!

BTW I think Stowe is the weekly winner of the trip report game AGAIN.

I was recently on their new site and wasn't able to find a link to the .pdf version of the trail map... I hate thoose interactive java maps, way to small, you can't see any detail... anyway, if anyone from Stowe management is reading: ..... ADD THE PDF FOR YOUR TRAIL MAP!!!!

All of the Greens have been getting clobbered this week so it's fantastic right now. That means very little in terms of how it will be in 2.5 weeks, as does a ski conditions report from today...

It will be what it will be. Have a good time.

I know "it will be what it will be", I just usually start checking the snow reports a few weeks in advance to get myself pumped. Also, I kind of like to know what I should rely on. And yes, it looks like much better X-Mas skiing than last year. Seems like skiing over X-Mas is good every other year:

04 - Bretton Woods - huge rain storm wipes out 50% of open terrain day before we arrive
05 - Whiteface - Great conditions, with almost 100% of the mountain open (though deteriorated day after X-Mas)
06 - Sugarbush - you know the story
07 - Stowe - Looking good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
