Well I hope I'm making tuns in early november and then it does not matter. I'll probably be at SR or sugaloaf the opening weekend. I'm confident that it will take place or at least an effort will be made. competition is back in the east. That seems to matter almost as much as the temps.
It if does not I have learned about the weather and folks experience in the ski industry Ow ya birth control. There is alot to learn yet in this thread.

Is Bretton Woods still trying to open up earlier? It may have been only a few green trails, but in the past they have managed to be open by mid-November...

Come now now guys .. Snowman is the "intellectual" GrilledSteezeSandwich with the same added entertainment value on the forum. He is as prolific poster as GSS is now. States his opinion no matter whom he offends in the process. GSS could be a younger version of Snowman in the making.

I'm easy going and Snowman is not..I'm not like him. I am a nerd when it comes to statistics but he's a nerd when it comes to everything and I'm also not a condescending snob. I'm an optimist and he's a pesimist. The main thing we have in common is that we spend alot of time on the internet...I also pretty much know for sure that it's been a long long time since Snowman has gotten laid..lol

When CNL came into the Mix BW changed its approach about openings. Snowseek was at the year end meeting and they got an earful. don't see them in the race anymore.

blah blah blah

people say it every year, its not going to snow, warmest ever, model this model that, sell your gear no more winter

well, the leaves are changing, I had to scrape my window off yesterday, hiked in snow for the first time this fall on sunday (only 2 days later than last year), sure seems like we might have winter, hell it might even snow again

if your ski season starts on a spot in your calender my recommendation would be to throw it out and lookout your window more

The ski resort business in the east along with many others are adjusting and adapting to the climate changes we have started to experience in the last 5 years or more. Many resorts are not scheduled to open until 11/15 or even 11/22.

Thanksgiving has not been a big holiday revenue thing for eastern resorts for years and is why it is not on the holiday list for SP blackout dates anymore. If there is good snow and the resorts are busy during Thanksgiving it's now considered a bonus so I don't worry about what the weather is now or what the various weather folks predict for the next week or so.

Folks, let's not forget, snowmaking isn't everything. Two years ago mid October looked just like this.....then we had 4' of natural pow before Halloween. It can happen....be ready.

pick up the latest powder and read about what happend in the PacNW last November...all of the forecasts, models, weather experts called for warmer than avg temps and below avg precip, in reality they got just the opposite, Nov snowfall records were shattered from Baker to Whistler, the latter receiving 12 feet of snow in Nov. All it takes is a butterfly flapping its wings in Asia and all the models go to shit.

IMHO the well run resorts are not in the race anymore nor do they really care about it.

I think comparing GSS to snowman is a severe disservice to GSS. GSS goes off on some fine tangents and types up some beauts.... but is no where near as insulting and confrontational. Sometimes I seriously wonder why some people even bother if they get so annoyed by other people....

I guess once the true ownership pie gets shoved in your face, smushed around and left long enough to set up, the best you can do is mumble some feable personality crap from behind an aluminum pie plate like the others? You're right, comparing me to Grilledsleaze would take away from his sleaziness and lack of intelligence. I, for one, DON'T get fu#Ked up enough to wake up in the morning next to some fat, ugly welfare mom who forgot to take her pills on purpose so she can hit him up for his ski trip money for the next 18 years. That's common sense. So, if you take that into account, Grilledsleaze's greatest fear boils down to his realization that he doesn't even have common sense? Yeah, I'd prefer not to be compared to THAT thanks.

Your right.. I am being too harsh with the comparisons.. I should have added the :stirpot::roll::spin::lol:;) with the comparisons .. I admit it, I saw a golden opportunity and I took it. :) two with one stone or should I say one post ...
