I took out my ca. 1998 Beta Ride 9.22's to play in the backyard the other day and realized my binding is completely broken. WTH.

Guess I"m back to 1 - quiver.

I can't remember the brand of the matched binding, but they had a serious design flaw. Mine let loose at the edge of the woods on a 30+ mph carved turn. I went sailing through the woods at Hunter. I have memories of breaking through a small tree or branch but not getting seriously hurt. My closest experience to death on skis.

I'll still use 2005ish Fischer WC SCs. They're probably worn out. Nothing wrong with using any 2000+ ski as long as they don't have many days on them.

I had those as a teenager. They were a lot of fun and brings back memories!

They still are! lol. They will be seeing the snow tomorrow night in the Poconos. Probably the best ice skis I've ever owned, rented, or demo'd (which makes them perfect for the Poconos).

How are those 1974 boots fitting?Dont tell me you retrofitted new boots to work with those?:p

You mean my Scott Superhots? yeah, they suck. I do have Spademan "rental" plates so I can use them with a newer boot, like my 1982 Nordica Polaris.

I hope that none of you are using the original bindings on most of these skis. They are not indemnified after a while for a reason. The bindings break down and so do the springs in them. You might think they are still working fine - but is it worth breaking a leg and/or several other bones. Doesn't take a bad fall to do it either.

Unindemnified bindings will NOT be worked on by ski shops because they don't want the liability if they do work on them and you get hurt. They're doing it for your safety.

A man brought in a pair of old rear entry boots and his old skis to be tuned for the season to a shop that I worked in. He had everything in one hand. The boots fell on the floor and disintegrated right infront of him. After the owner talked to him about the safety of his equipment - he ended up with new boots and new skis.
