I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice. I am in philly, and would like to take a day (midweek) trip to one of the poconos areas. I've only skied Blue Mt, and it was decent for PA. Is there any other resort that would be better or should I just stick with that. I dont want to drive more than 2 hrs, and would prefer a place with some decent and challenging runs. Thanks!

I believe Little Gap was bought out and its renamed Blue Mt., which is the only place I've skied in the poconos. Its not bad, a decent vert but they ruin so many of their trails with terrain parks or skier-cross courses. Plus, I think they only got like 6" out of this last storm along w/ ice, so Elk might be the choice. Is Jack frost/big boulder comparable to Elk - I know its a lot closer to Philly. Thanks for the help!

Camelback is one of the "bigger" ski areas in the Poconos. During midweek, none of them will have much of a crowd. Shawnee is OK too.

Sno mtn ( great new ownership) or used was be called montage. The north face is great with the steepest bump run in PA. It is almost as steep as K27 at hunter NY. Elk in the next best place in PA don't miss wednesday college nights 15$. The blue is good but it has alot of traffic and the snow gets skied off often. The two lifts are great, that new six pack just flys. There are no HSQs at Elk or Sno mtn just slow quads. Great mtns 8)

Sno-Mountain offers the best night skiing but Elk offers the better terrain for day skiing. There will be sparse crowds at each mid-week .

Camelback lifts are pretty quick and snowmaking is generally good. Shawnee has a rustic feel and can be a good alternative.

ummm well watch out.
I-78 (right through the heart of the poconos) is closed for a stretch. Check out philly.com- motorists were stranged on that part for like 18 hours.
