Wow, what a great day to be hiking in the Presidentials! Left Appalachia at 7:30 AM via the Air Line trail to the summit of Adams. There was about 4-6" of snow between the rocks above treeline, and by picking my steps around the icy bits, I was able to summit without the use of crampons. And what a summit day...in 30 years of hiking I can never remember being on top of one of the Presidentials with absolutely NO WIND!! The temp was in the 40's and it was a perfect time to laze about and take in the wonderful views. There weren't even that many hikers doing Adams...I saw 8 above King Ravine. Then it was down to the hut and a scramble to the summit of Madison. Another half dozen folks over in this area. By now the wind had picked up to a blistering 5 mph! Back down via the Valley Way. A late November day in the Whites just does not get any better than it was today. Crystal clear skies all day, not a cloud in sight!
