Resort or Ski Area: Ragged Mountain
Conditions: All bumps, all the time
Trip Report: Got to the mountain with my wife and daughter around 9 AM, still a few tables open in the barn. I am not sure how much new snow they reported but I'd guess 8-12" would be a good average. In general, "groomed" trails had mini-bumps over very edgeable packed... the usual bump runs like Flying Yankee had big bumps and not icy at all in the troughs... and a few natural snow trails like Easy Winder were like an alien landscape! Challenging but fun. Even on the bunny hill, Ragged usually does a 1/2 groom which I think is an excellent idea to help acclimate beginners to the differences between conditions. Lines we experienced were about 5 mins max on the 6-pack and non-existent on the Spear triple. My daughter loves any 3D conditions so this was a day in heaven for her... Mom and Dad still a bit sore this morning. It's a great place for an uncrowded day out, and although the mountain is not particularly steep, many of the trails have various little challenges or quirks that keep things interesting for all.
I posted a few pics over in the Gallery.
