Rain has moved past Northern VT.
Now snowing at Stowe and Jay! =)
Jay's FB status says the rain has passed and it's now puking.
I'm not down at all. Yes conditions took a hit, and the natural snow areas are out of play for a while but I have yet to read or hear anyone declare "winter over". As a matter of fact I just heard JB on the radio say that after next week he expects the cold to reload and return and to hang around well into March. This appears to me to be a good old January thaw that happens most years. The web cam at my home bump shows that the manmade snow appeared to hold up very well, a little snowmaking with this next cold snap and things should be fine till the next bout of cold comes again in 10 or so days. February and March are our snowiest times anyways. Like Hurricane season where you can have storms in June and July but usually have them in August and September, the NAO can be negative in December and January but tends to be more so in February and March.

There is still snow in my front yard after to the warm up/rain today and I found plenty of powder this past weekend. Life could be worse =)
Agreed. This pic is downright OBSCENE and should be removed immediately!

The angst on this thread is inversely proportional to latitude. Which leaves me in the pessimist camp. Hopefully Saturday won't be too ugly here in CT.
They cover the infield at Baseball games .....Why don't they invest in insulated tarps?. Thousands of dollars washed away!!!!!!!!!!!!

I say build a retractable dome ala Cowboy Stadium. Would be pretty sweet
I know this is not unusual for the Northeast but it is frustrating. Last season we had a decent December with a few days of high temps and some rain come early Jan. We got less than 10 inches of snow all of January- about Feb 10 at least in my neck of the woods. Trail counts were low and conditions less than stellar until mid Feb most places. I find it even more frustrating since I XC ski a lot too. Until it snows again, you are stuck with the hard crust if you aren't going to a groomed area. You got to be happy when mother nature cooperates and take advantage of it if you can and be patient until she does. (Now if I could take my own advice)
