"Soul" would be a place that swallows you up whole, makes you think about it on the fourth of july. When u finally get there, you can't eat breakfast cuz the butterflies are to heavy. and after shredding all day on the last run you still hven't gotten ur fill thas SOUL

gotcha

I have my favorite areas, Stowe being my most favorite, but in general........the soul is in the skiing itself for me, not the place.

i have never been to stowe, its so expensive. is it really worthit?

IMO

Mount Mansfield is the finest piece of skiing real estate in the East. Best combination of terrain and natural snowfall.

It's not cheap at 'rack rate', but I've never paid over $60 a day there.

This one is tough for me because I find appealing aspects about almost any hillside with a lift and snow on it, but if I had to pick one I would have to go back to my childhood roots and say the Madonna/Sterling complex at Smugglers Notch for the east.

OT Aspen will always be my #1

For me, The 'Loaf. It's where I started skiing a few years ago, and where I find my thoughts roaming during the hot, dog days of summer. I never ski everything I want to in a day and always look forward to the next moment I can get out and turn "oh my gosh" corner. When it comes into view, on a gorgeous bluebird day, the view is absolutely breathtaking. The people are all friendly and man, are there some GOOD skiers there. Sometimes it's as fun to ride up the chair and watch people kill the lift lines as it to ski the place yourself.

I could go on and on about the goosebumps I get whenever I ski it, especially when the snow is good...but you all have heard it already.

Close for me too, but have to give it to Saddleback...A bit more raw, coupled with the trees and the lakes puts it over the top.

I go through that agony every time I drive up 27 to where 4 splits off to Rangeley. Saddleback is a very special, wonderful place.

i have heard the loaf is not to be missed, but I have never heard of Saddleback. Thas why I asked that question. I wanna hear about Mnts i know nothing about

a great place to start if you want to find out about mountains you know nothing about is our Trip Report forum.

http://forums.alpinezone.com/forumdisplay.php?f=14

Its for first hand experiences and if you look for the camera icon next to the threads, the reports have pictures.

I highly recommend powderfreaks reports if you want to learn about Stowe.

The NE place that touches my soul

What place does it for you better than the others, Northeast only pls.

Wachusett.

Coming down Conifer, making that left turn and seeing my home town below. The view all the way to New Hampshire. I had many great days skiing there when I was a kid with my Mom and Dad and my brothers and sister. Pre-expansion, riding NE's longest T Bar, the Oxbow T Bar, having a packed lunch in the A Frame (Ski School building), climbing to the summit and skiing the Pine Hill Trail, to many great memories to list here.

Ski to the level of your smile!

Mt Ellen. It was my introduction to Sugarbush and I always appreciate the uncrowded trails, base lodge and people when I ski there.

I think the people there really help the "Soul Skiing" experience. I feed off of watching cats tear the mnts up. And its even better when u can chill with em and have a beer!
