I'm allergic to NYC, too big. Everytime I head south, I make sure I give it a wide bearth.

You could always look around Bolton or Stow. I don't know anything about either town except that they aren't far down 495.

Bolton is really expensive and there's not a lot there. It's a vry small town with big-lot zoning for the new McMansions, and the nearest town with stores, etc., is either Marlboro or Concord, both of which are about 15 miles away.

Berlin, Boylston and West Boylston are nice small towns as well, a little more affordable, good commuting locations and the schools are good.
