I have a gift cert for 2 nites at the Woodstock Inn and Resort. Looking at mid-Feb to use it. What good mountains are near there and drive times (yes, I know Suicide Six is right there) I am thinking K-mart, MRG, Sugar..how far from Woodstock are these places and let me know if I'm not thinking of anything..have to drive back to NY on Sunday so wouldnt want to drive North of Woodstock on Sunday

kmart or pico are the obvious choices. ascutney is further the other direction. mrg and bush would be almost 1.5 hours depending on the traffic. i can't think of any other place besides kmart and pico that would be too close to woodstock besides s6 which wouldn't be what you're looking for i would guess.

thanks all, PICO and K is what I saw being about 40 min away...just wanted to make sure I wasnt missing anywhere....Looks like I'll have to go a bit west then come back east to get the hwy back home......wish I still lived in CT, makes trips to the mountains easier!

Bear Creek is about 20 Minutes away. Okemo's not far as the crow flys, but there's not much for direct roads.

The K-mart Gondi base on Rt4 is about 20 minutes from Woodstock. 'Bush and MRG look like they'y be about an hour. (Not an area I travel much.)

The Killington Rt. 4 base is only about 20-30 minutes (as previously stated). MRG and Sugarbush would be 80-90 minutes and Ascutney (an underrated ski area IMHO) is about 30-40.
Those are the biggies, of course, but S6, Whaleback, Sunapee, and the Dartmouth Skiway aren't too far either. It might be worth considering some of those others if it is over a weekend--especially President's Weekend.

lots of options

If you did kmart you can then head down RT 7 to Benn then over to Albany then the Thruway to NYC. There are several ways to get to NYC from kmart/Pico with out having to drive back to I89.

You could also stay on Rt 4 from Rutland and get back to the Northway to the Thruway or take Rt 100 south to Ludlow then over to I91.

Most of the people I know from NYC head towards the Thruway than I89/I91 when they come to Kmart.

BTW I don't think Kmart is much more than 10 miles from Woodstock.
