... well, not really. He was executed by hanging this morning. Looks like he was pretty oblivious as to what was about to happen to him. Part of the execution was broadcast on Iraqi TV, poor taste in my opinion. Anyway, I guess a small chapter in history was closed today.

i just thought a state execution would have had a lot more hooplah. like in the movies, where was the background music pumping everyone up for the governors phone call that never comes. where was the sound effects when he was dropped. and the lighting sucked.

Gotta love the ski masks. The executioners didn't look like government officials wearing some sort of disguise - they looked like bandits.

In all seriousness, the fact that there was any part of the execution taped and aired to the general public doesn't sit well with me. Are US executions (or parts leading up to them) taped/aired generally?
