His ultra competitiveness is what made him so great and ultimately proved to be his downfall as well. No different than Barry Bonds. He needed to not simply be one of the all time greats, he needed to be in the conversation of best ever and was willing to do whatever he had to, even cheat, to achieve it. If the Mitchell investigation and Petite admissions weren't enough.....the look of guilt on his face in the Mike Wallace interview surely was. Now his ultra competitiveness thinks he can beat the lie detector. That in itself is an inexact science, so we'll see.

Just like Barry, he'll go down as one of the all time greats and just like Barry his image and achievements will be forever tarnished.

I hope it was worth it Roger. I know you have well over $100 reason$ to think it was, perhaps for you that's enough to live with being a cheat.

Clemens screwed himself with that interview. He's not changing anyones mind and if Brian McNamee files a defamation suit against Clemens then Roger will have to testify under oath.

I don't think there was anything in the interview for which McNamee could sue. He denied the alleged events taking place, but never called McNamee a liar or anything like that.

Lop in the the same group as Cansceo, Bonds, Sossa, Mcguire, Palmero, etc. He's such an arrogant S.O.B. that he'll likely end up in a similar situation to what Bonds is currently in.

He should just take in millions, and sit back quietly in Texas watching Cody Clemens struggle in the minors.

I'm sure Dan Duquette sent him a gift basket....I bet a few Red Sox trainers (and their clients) sent him a cigar or something for not interviewing them.

Anyway, I want to believe Clemens, because I don't want to have to doubt such unequivocal greatness, but his explanations don't seem very believable.

Some guy who sounds like a frightened little girl, who constantly tried to bait Clemens in witness tampering by asking him, "what do you want me to do...just tell me"

He never said , you know, you did do steroids on the phone, but he also never said, I know you didn't

Certainly a tough situation to prove. I think Roger was baiting McNamee ever bit as much as McNamee was baiting Roger and McNamee was most likely was recording the information as well.

I guess my take is that, what incentive is there for McNamee to lie about it? He had very good incentive to not in lie in that he would face jail time if he did. The only incentive I see is that perhaps Roger mis-treated McNamee to the point where McNamee is seeking revenge.

Well, a couple additional ideas: since it IS so hard to prove one way or another, maybe money (book deals, tabloid deals, TV, movies) and notoriety? I doubt he thought it would blow up like this....

I don't believe there is such a test. I believe HGH is very difficult to test for, leaves the body quickly.

Without a witness, which it looks like there isn't, it's one man's word against anothers really.

If Roger did take steriods, he at least apparently was smart enough to not tell a soul about it.

The guys who admitted to doing it ought to be thrown out of baseball immediately. And that includes Pettite who broke my heart admitting to it. Make examples out of all of them. Shame them forever.

It'll never happen because the owners are as guilty as the assholes who took that stuff.

You can smile again. Pettite didn't take steroids. He used HGH (human growth hormone), which is a lot different (not good, but not steroids).

It's cheating. Sticking a needle in your butt cheek to help you perform.

It hurts because I believe that Pettite did do it and then regretted it and stopped because he knew it was wrong. But it was enough to get him caught up in the mess.

Baseball has to draw a line in the sand against this kind of abuse.

The NFL has a drug testing policy. They post it for all the teams to see at the beginning of each year so they can prepare for it.
