Looking back at some of my old ski pictures and trying to remember what year they were taken in ;) I could see that a pair of Rossi 7S's that I got prior to my 1st year of dental school (the '93-'94 academic year) had MRR's on them, and then a pair of Rossi 9X 9.3's that I got during the spring on my 4th year in dental school in '97 had Marker M51's on them. Having had my 5 or 6 prior pairs of skis to the 9X 9.3's with MRR's on them, I can't quite remember if I went with the M51's because Marker wasn't making the MRR anymore then or if I finally just got tired of having to bend down to click my heels into the heel pieces!

Well, my memory has deceived me. Maybe I gave up upon them not because they stopped making the rotary heel, but because I was persuaded that the step ins were safer. Thanks for the level-set.

The Rossi FKS/Look Pivots have been back on the market for at least 4 seasons.
And P12s before the PXs had the turntable going.

PXs suck. I've had lots of pre-release problems. I'll probably grab a Look Pivot for my next ski update. Or get a wide break and move over my old P12s... still bomber after seven years.

I was always a big fan of the Look bindings with turntable heel piece. It just really made a lot of sense to me thatif the toe is being released, the heel should not be held in place and hinder the release.
The last variation on this there that I have is the P 7.5 (?). The heel does turn but only by about 20 degrees, at most.

However, the big reason why I really liked the Look is that the back piece always offered a very generous amout of upward flexibilty - someting close to 25 or 30 mm before it woud actually fully release. The front piece also had a good deal of sideways give and still kept you in.
As a former mad bumper (I was a bit reckless in my younger days), I had the peace of mind that having a very flexible binding allowed me to hit the bumps hard and worry about twisting my knee or some other injury.
