Resort or Ski Area: Saddleback Maine

Conditions: FG to Corn / Wet Snow

Trip Report: Great spring day, albeit mid-March, at Saddleback Maine. Day started out stiff, but the afternoon resulted in great spring corn conditions in bright sunshine.

Still loads of snow on the snow making trails. I predict they have some runway into April even with these warm temps. Some of the natural trails are on their last legs, notably Wardens Worry, Frost Bite and Black Beauty. Woods are still deep. Heck it is only mid-march. I have a sneaky feeling we might see something white before the year is out.

Anyway, more words and a couple of crappy cell phone pics (forgot the camera) at the blog.

Saddleback was great yesterday, 1st time there ever. Vowed to get up there this year and made it happen finally. The Casablanca glade area was really cool & worth the short jaunt. Definately a Mainer vibe- a mix of authenticity with a little LL Bean Catalogue; nice lodge (reminded me somehow of Bretton Woods), lifts reminded me of smuggs/Jay & the terrain & layout at the Kennebago area(?) fantastic. Very friendly, kids loved it, will be back. Got rained out on Friday but Sat made up for it.
