Sunday River can always open earlier if they want to. They have a north-facing fixed-grip lift with a midstation that services intermediate terrain. It doesn't take much to get the top section of T2 open. Until Killington has a better lift layout for downloading, they're going lose this battle most years.

I agree with Highway Gnar.

Wait a minute.......

 ;)

Seriously, though....one thing I do agree with the Gnar One on is the upper mountain lift thing. Is retrofitting a mid-station on the K1 near the Cascade Flume merge at all a possibility?

They need to open Friday so I can get it before the rest of Colorado does. There is plenty of snow now, just finishing the bottom. A-Basin needs also to get their shit together so all those Epic pass folks go there! I am losing my F&^ckin mind!

Last year they open on the same day. A-Basin lift line was 30+ min at times, LL I skied right on to the lift.

Hopefully Hunter follows...or is sooner!

Hope so, but they didn't start snow making until 11/17 last year...

Of course they pounded the crap out of the hill and opened 5 days later. Hunter's usually my late November option.

wxdog (SR's weather guy) in the SR forums:

"I'm not going to say anything, but for those of willing to hike, there will be skiing in New England VERY soon... Very soon...And as far as lift-serviced, that's not too far behind. Trust me! ~ Russ"
