I read online today, that at Belleayre, Shandaken residents will be able to get swipeable lift ticket cards, loaded with 13 Sunday tix at $20 each, and they do not have to wait on line for lift tickets, and they could buy additional tickets for friends at $25 each. So I reasoned, season tickets have mag strips and are swipeable too. Why not let season ticket holders swipe their cards? After spending a lot more $ than Shandaken residents, we wouldn't have to wait in line either. That would be cool. It would shorten lines for people waiting to pay also.

So I called the Belleayre admin office and asked if season ticket holders would be able to swipe too. Nooooo... Why not? I asked. Answer: "I'm not in charge of that." Me: OK, well put it on the suggestion list, then.

Is it because they don't want us to sell them to others in the parking lot? Well print our name on them, then, like they did in '05-'06.... or somethin'. And, come to think of it, those Shandaken residents will be able to scalp them to their "friends", right?

My guess is that it is a pilot program and they don't want to upset the season ticket holders if it doesn't actually work as-anticipated.

Season pass holders need to pick up a lift ticket every day?

That's so old school...

Why not just do the pass with photo that every other ski area does?

We have been asking that question for years.......... Probably has something to do with mountain stats at this decidedly old school state run mountain......

wow, never heard of that, that is old school indeed. The picture pass seems like far more simple technology than the card swipe ticket program

At Jack Frost/Big Boulder season passholders need to get a lift ticket each day..but they sell an express ticket for $100 more which gives direct to lift access. IMHO a major benefit of having a season pass is going right from your car to the lift..not having to wait in a ticket line..

I had no idea. I've had various season passes over the past 20 years and it was always just a picture pass where you get on the lift and in more modern times, scanable passes. For sure the convenience factor of a pass is certainly a selling point in addition to the cost per day savings. If I were a pass holder anywhere, I'd be annoyed as hell if it meant having to get a day ticket each time I wanted to ski.

Dude, your skiing at a ski area that has barely any money for snow making, They are only gonna blow snow on 2 or 3 trails on west side and cut out snow making on 2 or 3 trails on front side. They are operating on a shoestring budget and your gonna bitch about how season pass/employees get there lift tickets. I would like to just be able to just put ticket on lanyard and go but its not a big deal to get ticket.
