Looking to add another ski to the quiver. Currently on Atomic M9 (purchased last year) Its fantatstic in crud, pow, long sweeping arcs. I've been skiing for 20+ yrs, upper adv/expert. I've found recently due to crowds and conditions, that letting the skis run fast, long sweeping arcs is getting harder and harder to do. I have been spending more time on the treeline making short SL turns and having a blast. Also, my M9' are great in the trees but not in the bumps...ice/hardpack edge grip isnt great either (yes, my skis are tuned and sharp)

What are some great short turn, edge gripper skis i can demo??

Demo the Head Supershape.

I liked they way they skied for the type of turn you're talking about, although I found that the tips were so wide (116, iirc?) they got in each other's way if you're in the bumps and have your feet closer together.

But they were light and stiff, two qualities I look for. And very stable, even at speed, for a shorter turn ski.

Very good edge control and an insanely small radius. Great grip. I demoed them at Snow and hit some pretty tough hardpack on some steeper pitches and this ski was very confidence-inspiring. This is at the extreme end of the spectrum I guess.

Try a not so slalom ski. You know, the ones designed after the companies stock slalom ski, but modified for a little more all around goodness.
