SIA's "Bring a Friend" Program Kicks off to encourage membership growth in snowsports

http://bringafriend.org/

There's a big push right now by the SIA this year (got it in my media packet!!) to increase participation, and the reccomendation is to "Bring a friend". The basic gist is that there are 100,000 instructors and other ski professionals out there and if everyone just brings one person to the sport, we can net 100,000 new participants.

Last year there was a big push in January which has been dubbed, "Learn to Ski or Snowboard Month", and the SIA claims they had 100,000 new lessons (vs. 75,000 the year before), even considering the marginal weather conditions.

Anyway, sounds like a good idea, the more participation the better IMO, it keeps the lifts spinning, provides revenue for capital improvements, keeps NELSAP numbers down, and does good for the rural mountain communities.

Just keep a few stashes please 8)

[h=2]What is Bring a Friend?[/h]Are you a skier or a snowboarder? Want to share your love for winter sports?
Bring a Friend is your chance to Introduce a friend or family member to skiing or riding this winter - and win great prizes for doing so.

The best way for newcomers to learn is by taking lessons from a professional instructor. “Friends” don’t teach friends.
Help a newcomer sign up for lessons. Learning programs are available at locations throughout the U.S. all winter long and January is Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month. Find out what is happening in your region.

If you just learned yourself or are a seasoned enthusiast, Bring a Friend to the snow this winter for lessons from a pro. Visit snow sports specialty retail shops for information about apparel, equipment and accessories.

Take the national Bring a Friend Challenge. It's a "friendly competition" for current participants and newcomers that offers some fantastic rewards just for helping to share the “love”.

Check out www.skiandsnowboardmonth.org for venues near you.
