should read - without correct qualifications OR SKI EQUIPMENT

Europe in general is way more strict about licensing for anything than here in the USA.

Things like Paragliding, skydiving, etc. require gov't licenses and training. Here, it's mostly self-regulated groups that basically create membership and build safety practices, etc for the benefit of all.

Looks like he's been sentenced to 200 days in jail, or alternatively he can pay the 30,000 euro ($40,800) fine

Sounds like this wasnt a qualification issue, and more of a "that ski resort didnt get the instruction revenue" issue.

Shouldn't they all go to jail teaching French fry turns? I preferred pizza turns.
Pizza is for turns and stopping, however, there are no French fry turns. French fries are for a straight run, traversing or side slipping. Can turn with French fries (This guys skis look like french fries, straight & long. I would not take a lesson from someone with those skis..........
