I agree on the fluff. But I'll be trying out 2 of the top 10 in the East this season (Tremblant and Sugarbush). :snow::snow::snow:

Deer Valley, Utah, captured the top spot ...much lauded by SKI readers for its topnotch service, grooming and dining, ...Deer Valley was also voted the best spot for a Luxury Ski Trip in the lifestyle rankings.

I wonder if they'll have a poll where skiing is the primary item they address? Service grooming and dining...

TGR'll have a ball with this.

Wow Killington took a dive. I suspect it will continue to drop with the new shortened season. Top 3 are the same I believe.

Okemo in the top 10? Puleese. Top 50 maybe. Must be the same "service, grooming and dining "skiers".

And people trust them for their ski reviews.

HPD's second guess was close:

After doing extensive and exhaustive research I’ve decided to revise my list.

1.Tremblant – from what I’ve read, infrastructure is going down hill and skier visits are off. Folks still love their Epcotlike Alpine Village
2.Smuggs – great place, but I think they’ll be lower then last year. Family programs bring in the votes.
3.Whiteface – yes I’m a homer, but I’ve got a good feeling this year. After the expansion is complete WF will then vault to the top.
4.Stowe – lots of upgrades the general public will like
5..Sugarbush – always near the top
6.Killington – too many skier visits not to get votes, even though expectations for coming season seem low
7. Okemo – the masses love it
8. Sugarloaf – location hurts this great mountains appeal to the masses
9. Sunday River – always in the top 10
10. Stratton – big time destination for NYC and Jersey

I further predict that WF’s sister mountain in the ORDA family will crack the top 20 for the first time. Yes, I’m very wise, very wise indeed.

Top 4. Not bad, HPD! Nice to see Sugarbush make the list.

People who look for something a lot different then you trust them... It's all about fluff...

Maybe they should have a "best skis for Okemo and Deer Valley" poll. Metron?

Yes, but I still enjoy it ... and getting pissed at it :) Lists are fun. Though I don't think I subscribe at this point, so I'm probably not getting it this year.

I'll give them credit for one thing with the national top 10, as much as people love to make fun of Deer Valley, unless you've been there you really can't imagine how nice it is, and not just the "fluff" factor, but the way the terrain is laid out, the mega-efficient lift system, and even the way, way, way underrated expert terrain.

The biggest joke of that top 10 is the 2nd Utah resort in the list, Park City Mountain Resort  Ahead of Alta/Snowbird, even Alta/Snowbird brings the "fluff" better than Park City Mountain resort!

"Unless you've been there" - You think you're the only one who's been there?

I'm embarrassed to say I've been there more than I should, because when I have gapers coming along they want to go to Deer Valley because of the "service, grooming, food...." (Try Snowbasin 50 miles away for service, grooming, food, btw)

Thankfully one of my normal skiing buds is with me (our wives like DV for...), and we seek out the goods - not much to be found, and we've been over every square inch of Deer Valley's terrain. Empire Canyon has double diamonds like Stratton's double diamonds. Bald Mountain DD's - c'mon.

Does the mega-efficient lift system include where the three lifts come together at the top Flagstaff creating complete a complete cluster....? Or maybe having to take a lift just to get to a lift to get to the main mountain? Or all the bunnies falling over each other at the end of the day on the "double blue" big stix. Or having the long run-out to get back to Flagstaff?

DV deserves the ridicule it gets, unless service, grooming and food are the criteria. I do give them credit for the board-free restriction however.

Maybe the ranking of Park City wasn't from the food, grooming, service crowd.
