Resort or Ski Area: Ski Sundown

Conditions: Groomed man-made, hard pack, and some loose granular

Trip Report: Since it was a slow night at Sundown, I was able to finagle my way out of work early and I got a couple of hours on the hill (my only chance to ski this week, unfortunately). After my 2 warm-ups on Tom's Treat/Papoose, I hung out on Canyon Run most of the night, alternating between the top of Nor'Easter (still set up from the skiercross last night) and the top of Canyon Run. I also tried the outer couple of columns of bumps on the skier's left on Exhibition. :D I was gaper-ific, for sure. But at least I tried them. Ended the night on Temptor (which was a spectacular display of gaperness, but the only witness was one of the snow-making crew - thankfully!).

Not as happy as I was with the snow the last time I was out. More hardpack than last time, some scratchies in the middle, pretty churned up on Exhibition. Not bad, though. Beats working! ;)

I will add this... during one of my attempts at the bumps, I was stopped on the side and one of the Guest Services people stopped to talk with me. He said he just can't figure the bumps out. I told him that my husband was a big fan, but I'm clueless as well. We both smiled, and then he skied on, continuing in the bumps with much more grace and style than I managed. Guess he's figured it out more than I have so far. ;)

I know it's already been covered, but Nor'Easter looks pretty sad. All these blobs of snow - they need some major massaging from you guys!!!!!!

I'm happy to hear that you at least gave the bumps a shot! :D

I'm eager to get up there and work in those NE bumps!

Sounds like they were firing up snow-making again, I wonder if they top coated NE?? Probably, I guess...

you guys may stone me for this but in a way, the warm temps and rain may help out. soften them up, mold them the way we want and then once they set up when it gets cold, perfect lines.

or something like that.
