Resort or Ski Area: Ski Sundown

Conditions: spring bumps

Trip Report: Took Jake up to Sundown for some practice in advance of tommorrow's event. Hit the lift @ 1:00 and headed right to GB. Sun had been out but the snow was still a little crispy. There were a couple of guys working on the kickers. By the 2nd run things had softened up nicely. Jake and I skied GB over and over. Lines are great, the right line was tough at first but i started getting the hang of it as the day went on.

Had a great "dad" moment. I challenged Jake to a dual run, first to the 2nd kicker won. i figured i had it locked and took it easy on him. i could see he was keeping up with me the whole way and the last 20 yards i needed to pull away to save face. i inched ahead of him, barely, and then proceeded to hit a mogul head on, burying my tip in the soft snow and ejecting. Jake won!

Saw Jeff on the deck during a break. There were a handful of others ripping up GB. I shot some video, will post later.

Great day today. Weather was fantastic. Tomorrow should be even better!

Nice. Got pretty cold last night. If it softened today, we should be set tomorrow. How are the kickers looking?

Oh yeah - that area they plowed over to cover the burnt out spot. Any natural lines forming up in there yet?

kickers looked good, much smaller than Jan (I'm not complaining). lower kickers were still rough. i managed to hit the upper left one, avoiding the sign, didn't get huge air but the landing was OK.

I suspect they'll get built up tomorrow. I want to get launched into orbit! My only chance of being competitive is pulling a combo.

Great spring conditions there today. Got there around 11:30 and the bumps were still firm. Stopped and talked to Chris who had a shovel in hand and was in the bumps filling in any thin troughs. Caught up with Mikey1 shortly after that and did a few runs down GB. Around 1 I met up with some friends with their kids and spent the rest of the day skiing the groomers with them.

When I was pulling out around 5:30 I noticed the Meatheads hanging around the parking lot. Should be a great day tomorrow!

Kickers will be larger tomorrow. The Hammer was complaining that you could only do a small double off the top one.
