Area Skied: Ski Sundown, C.T

Date skied: February 27th, 2007

Surface conditions: Packed powder, wet packed snow (lower slopes)

Tonight was my first time skiing with my brother since we last skied together at Mt Orford in January 2003, in -25F weather. Tonight was much warmer by about 60F and the skiing was not bad with a light mix of sleet and snow falling combined with a slight bit of fog.

Our first run was down Canyon which was packed powder until the intersection with Nor'Easter when it turned to a more heavy spring snow. The next run was down Gunbarrel which had the most soft snow that I have seen on it all season, but did have a race going on about half way down the trail on skiers left.

We did our next run down Temptor not too long after it had been groomed and I managed to hit the only patch of ice on the trail, and nearly took a spill. Nor'Easter had been closed for grooming on the upper part and it was fun skiing when it opened, though the moguls where small and had a break in them about 3/4 of the way down.

Bvibert was loading up the yellow summit chair and it was nice to meet and say hello.

I forgot you said you were going to be there, so it took me a second to realize you were waiting at my chair, then I couldn't remember your name... Too bad we didn't get a chance to make some turns together.
