Eh hem...excuse me..."first layer."

My local Decathlon Sports closed so I decided to try the much talked about, special ski first layer clothing at clearance prices. I will describe what I bought and then comment about how it's working so far.

Bottom: Ultimate Sports by Duofold, Inner Layer 100% Polyester Thermax, outer layer 55% Polyester, 45% Merino wool

Top: ACG Base Layer (Nike logo), 100% Polyester

These probably aren't the best materials or even the recommended materials, but since I've worn them I haven't felt wet and sweaty after a mogul run. But the season is long and there's lots more intense skiing to be had so maybe I'll follow up with a report next year.

sounds okay to me. as long as you got some kinda poly-based non-cotten material, that's what counts. some kinda advanced 'wicking' material is always nice to have (material that moves sweat away from your body while also keeping you dry from outside wetness).

i actually just bought a pair of long underwear from REI. i've been happy with their first layers. i don't even use a "second layer" when i ski. just my REI poly-based long sleeve (occasionally a short sleeve under it) then my parka. very warm!
