I can’t believe this guy is in his 50’s? I thought 30’s….and I would have taken the under if I had too.

I followed him for a bit. Certainly a valuable service for the uninitiated (which is not the AZ crew) but any questioning of his statements were met with a childish defensiveness that was off putting to say the least. Hence I don’t follow.

I could certainly envision a scenario where the shop reached out to express their issues and concerns and he went into tantrum mode which led to a lawsuit.

As I said, immature.

I can't imagine Matt wants this fight. He changed the name once and as far I can tell didn't really lose his FB followers. Just change it again.

I also can't imagine that the ski shop wants this fight either. It does seem logical that they would have approached him to change his name before spending money on a lawyer.

The whole thing makes no sense.

It makes no sense because you are a reasonable man, who runs a reasonably popular old fashion forum, and while you may enjoy some of the benefits that entails, probably isn't your whole personality. It appears that it makes more sense to a hypersensitive keyboard warrior, who not only runs a popular facebook group, but believes he is going to parley it into a successful business

The human ego can be one hell of a drug.

Based on what you all are saying, I imagine that he is going to defend this case himself. Pro-se. And be the pro-se litigant from hell. He’s going to prove everyone wrong….

Many have tried and failed. I have done neither.

The closest I have ever seen anyone come to turning ski content into a living is Stuart of Storm Skiing Journal. And he really busts his ass. His ability to assimilate information is vast and his energy is off the charts.

I suspect some youtubers might be making some decent money. Best thing that ever happened to Buckhouse was the Keystone incident.

I guess I meant people I've seen up close.

I met Porter Fox and Dave Reddick at Plattekill. Fucking legends, even they couldn't keep Powder Magazine in the black.

It's a tough business.

Mmmmm Powder mag😕 I both do and don't miss it. I def miss it existing and had no intention to stop subscribing but I was always way behind on reading the issues. And my collection (back to the mid 00s) was becoming clutter but couldn't force myself to purge it. The subscription to Mens Jurinal in exchange for Powder (and BIKE; any mtn bikers here?) was just insult to injury😡

As an absolute regular joe, sometimes having realistic expectations is the key to being happy.
+100

I had a passion when I was younger, it was ceramics. I ruined it for myself by trying to make it a business.

Now I love to ski and write about skiing. Not making the same mistake again.
