Assuming you celebrate, did you have trouble sleeping on Christmas Eve when you were a child? I did, I would drive myself nuts. I do have trouble sometimes, when I know I must leave in the wee hours to start a trip. I wonder if over the counter sleep aids would help? Warm milk? Sex? I think the last one is definitely worth a shot.

So, chase a sleeping pill with a glass of warm milk, then screw someone's brains out, and you should be good to go, sounds good to me, even if it doesn't work.

No hurry to get up early for spring skiing most of the time. Crack o noon works fine.

Is it nerves? Are you a comfortable and confident skier?

You're clearly not skiing enough!!

This. I get it when you can't sleep the day before a trip but if you can't sleep after skiing all day, you're doing it wrong. I don't have a problem falling asleep the day before a trip, but I wake up like it's Christmas morning. I jump out of bed so fast that I usually scare the crap out of my girlfriend and my dog.

I usually sleep only 4-5 hours the night before a trip. It's not that I can't sleep it's that I don't go to bed until late. I don't have a problem with that. Usually leave 4:30am-5:00am to arrive at K around 10:00am a bit earlier if I stop somewhere in S. VT. first. After that I'm good with 7-8 hrs. of sleep a night. I usually go for 3-5 days in a row so I'm not talking about day trips which I don't do anymore.

I generally do not have a problem sleeping at all! But .... isn't it funny how we can get up to go skiing with no problem yet getting up for work sucks!

Or

Ski all day Saturday - sleep like a baby then get right up the next morning (doesn't matter how hard we partied the night before) and get on it again! Then Monday rolls around and I have the Monday Morning wake up blues where I feel tired as hell! Getting stoked for skiing is like it own high!

Secret is tuning your skis 24hrs+ prior....instead of the night before which usually ends at ~midnight(or later) before hitting the bed. You have to get some shuteye...but the body is beginning to amp up.
A particularly wrong plan when you're driving from home for first chair for best snow. Getting up @5am is brutal.
