Is Belleayre blowing? That looks natural. I'm going opening day, will they have a decent amount of terrain off the top?

Very interesting! I didn't expect that! I know they plan on having a full terrain park ready to go on opening day...but no idea they were going to open the pipe.

No way the pipe will be open this weekend. But they do have to have it up and running and HUGE for the Weekend of January 8-11 for the Mountain Dew AST tour, and that thing takes ALOT of snow gun time to get it ready!

Guarenteed that you'll see a disproportionate amount of early season gun time both in the super pipe area and on whatever trail (Nitro? Inferno?) that's going to be used for the slopestyle competition in the Dew Tour. That tour has HUGE implications for the mountain and the greater Deerfield Valley and having a HUGE pipe and HUGE park I'm sure is a top priority for the management at Mount Snow. I'd bet that they have a target date of around January 1st for when they want all the on-hill snowmaking done for both of those areas, and while it sounds like its a long way off, the amount of gun time required to make the amounts of snow they'll need will eat through that time quickly(even with a cooperative mother nature)

I doubt the pipe will be open to the general public even when it does come online. I'm guessing they will be preserving it for the competition.

:snow:

Current K-ton snowmaking:

I'm thinking they'll have every trail with snowmaking on Snowdon open for Saturday. Fingers crossed for Lower Conclusion and some of the canyon. Probably all of Killington Peak and Snowdon open for Thanksgiving weekend, maybe with a few trails on Skye open, the way they're going and with the forecast they've got. With some luck with natural, they might even be able to pull Ramshead's opening up a week.

I've always managed to avoid loon for their opening weekends, I'll have to try to get there one day this weekend too. Top to bottom would be an awesome bonus too instead of just east basin.

Well put, My choice will be depend on if I have to down load or not

Downloading on the gondola is so much better than downloading on Locke though... Sunday was the first time I've done that, I was paranoid I was going to drop my skis...

Snowmaking is shut down on main face of Mount Snow as per the webcam, though snowmaking is still ongoing in the half-pipe area. I cannot imagine it's too warm up there as it's only 35.6F here at home.

Maybe they lost a snowmaking pipe. There isn't enough snow up top where they made snow to open yet as well. Wonder whats going on?
