Snowmaking this weekend

So with tonight being good snowmaking weather for pretty much everyone across New England tonight we should see a TON of snowmaking progress tonight and through the weekend.

I was thinking about this on my drive in to work this morning and it made me wonder:

Just how many gallons per minute of water will be converted to snow over the course of this weekend when you add up all the guns running all over New England? What about adding in New York State?

How many total gallons of water will be converted to snow over the course of the weekend in the area?

These are sure to be some staggering numbers once the weekend is out.

:snow::flag::snow:

Bring it on.

I bet you're right. There's going to be a serious effort now that temps will be cooling down.

I'd conservatively say that 500,000 gallons a minute will be going through a rapid phase change from liquid to solid! :snow: :fangun: :)

Camelback says that the guns go on this week as the temperatures permit. Going up to the Poconos tomorrow for a Christmas party and as of now they are predicting some snow. I'd love to sit back with a Captain and Coke and watch the flakes fly. Finally starting to feel like the seasons about to start. Gonna drop my ski's off at the mountain shop for their 1st tuneup while I'm up there. Hey that reminds me, I need to put the racks on the truck today:cool:

Temps last night around the region were higher than forecast so I doubt many resorts made much snow last night but starting tonight there is hope. :D
What ^^^^ said.

I am sure there were a lot of snowmakers sitting around doing nothing but waiting for the temps to drop, which did not happen as forecast. We will see if the forecast for next few nights are accurate. If we get warm temps over the next few nights, I vote that the forecasters not get paid. :uzi:

Looks like Sunday River is not just looking to expand terrain for next weekend, but EXPLODE...

Looking at the interactive map it looks like they are trying to get to five lifts for next weekend:

Locke
Barker
Spruce
Chondola
South Ridge Express

That'll be a pretty impressive expansion for one week. Go Snowmakers Go!

LMAO...yea, let's fry the weather people, the snow reportering thing has already gotten boring with all that engineering/physics mumbo jumbo. How about after the snow comes we can fry the parking lot people and then the scanning PITA thing is always good........

SRO, this is one of my favorite recent ones to deal with the weather. It's done by Halley O'Brien, who was Mount Snow's snow reporter last season, and now down at Mountain Creek

That'll be pretty sweet. Killington's looking for going toward a big terrain expansion this week, with opening both the Rams Head Quad, and Superstar Quad by next weekend, along with Highline and the rest the main snowdon trails (aka not Conclusion) according to Spinmaster.

Speaking of MC their site says that they plan to start making snow tonight and probably open next weekend. Also it's currently snowing there but we're only supposed to get up to 1" through today and tonight.
