Some Sugarloaf Lodging advice, please.

The three of us (myself, my husband, and our 9-year old son) are planning to come to the Loaf the week before Christmas. There are GREAT midweek deals in two places but we can't decide which would work the best because we've never been to Sugarloaf. One choice is a 1-bedroom condo at the Sugartree II and the other is a hotel room at the Grand Summit Resort Hotel. The price of the hotel room is about $200 less than the condo so that is a factor in our decision. The others are: closeness to a lift (9-year olds don't like to walk while carrying ski's), closeness to the village (the Grand Summit appears to be in the middle of everything), and view (up the mountain or seeing lots of other condos). The reservation people tell me that the mid-way station of one of the lifts (Snubber, maybe) is right outside the door of the Sugartree and that it is a longer walk to the lifts at the bottom of the mountain from the hotel. My husband is skeptical about this. They have also told me that the having the a full-service Health Club in the building is a real plus to the Sugartree.

So, since we don't know what to do I thought I'd ask some folks who appear to be experts about everything having to do with the mountain. Thanks for any input, ideas, other things to think about, etc. :D

Hi CPP. Welcome to the forums! First of all, I hope you took a look at the Sugarloaf lodging page right here on this very Web site:

For $200 more, a condo gives you some obvious benefits (kitchen, privacy, etc.). Maybe there are similar suites in the hotel? Regarding closeness to the lift: there is a shuttle service so no matter how far you are from the lift, you can hop on for a ride to the Super Quad or to the base area proper. Yes, Snubber will bring you from the condo area to the base. You'll then need to load another lift to access the skiing itself. I've only been to Sugarloaf once (this past April and there were no lower lifts running) so I'm not familiar with where Sugartree II is in relation to the lifts. I would think the reservation desk could tell you specifics based on unit number. You mention 9 year olds. How many kids will be with you? Again, a condo may be roomy and more comfortable for a family.
