Are there folks here that belong to any?

Could we create an AZ ski club and get the benefits that other ski clubs get? It seems like we're pretty close to that anyway. I know everyone is spread out all over the northeast, but it could be an extension of the AZ gatherings and turn them into official ski club trips. Small dues from everyone (not for using the forums, but for getting discounts) could provide administrative support for organizing trips and what not. Maybe even a ski house somewhere ...

Maybe this has all been discussed before, but I just saw it mentioned in another thread.

I was thinking of someone who might already have good contacts at the ski areas. <cough>Greg</cough> I'd be happy to spend $50 (seems to be the going rate for a lot of ski clubs unless they have a ski house) for a season to get 1/2 price tickets and other bene's. But Greg could easily enough share his info/contacts with whoever is organizing as an AZ ski club rep.

These things usually do have a president and treasurer and board of directors and all that depending on size. I don't think any of us have the time to it alone. We should see how many serious members we might have and start organizing.

Not saying it couldn't work on AZ, but SJ tried this four years ago and it was a terrible failure. The guy that started it up was actually somewhat of an insider working in the Inn business. I know it does require a lot of leg work setting up the club, collecting dues, making ID cards, etc. More power to you guys if you want to go for it, but it is kind of reinventing the wheel as there are already dozens of ski clubs out there and they all generally get the same discounts.

I was poking around the internets a bit and found these guys: It looks like if you form a club you can hook up with them and enjoy their benefits without doing too much leg work yourself.

Agree ski ckubs are great for discounts and camaraderie. Already belong to 3 - 1 for discounts and trips (has a $10/yr membership fee), 1 for access to the lodge, and the third for discounts, activities and friendship. There are a lot of clubs out there already.

From what I've seen it's a lot more work than most people realize. Let's face it people lead busy lives. Trying to get people to run the show becomes a burden. Managing the money is also rough, people don't send the $ for tickets they order in a timely way and either someone floats the order at personal risk or the whole order gets delayed possibly missing discount deadlines.

Like the link above, NJ also has a Ski Council. Last year both CT and NJ discounts were pretty much the same for the mountains I checked.

I'd suggest finding a ski club in your area with a healthy membership and you'll get the discounts. Then stay connected to this board and you'll have the camaraderie.
