Got out this afternoon and was much better then expected

I'd skip Goat until some more snow though

I did waaaay too much nothing this summer, so this is a rough way to do day 1 😂

I told myself I was gonna take a few runs on Lord to get the blood flowing, but with it being the only groomer down and a good sized crowd on hand it was a slick mess. So run #2 I hopped right onto Liftline and huffed and puffed the whole way down lol.

Still a lot of great coverage on the upper half of the mountain, but getting down to dirt in a hurry down low in a lot of areas. Unfortunately a few trails have been roped today including Nosedive.

Most mountains would do unspeakable things to have conditions like this midwinter. It's legit a soft coating on top of a deep soft base. Barely hitting anything on the upper mountain. I can't believe we have this before Thanksgiving. Just incredible.

On the other hand, I regret not doing more to get in shape for the season. Most years there's plenty of time to ramp up with groomers for a month before the good stuff comes into play. I was legitimately hurting out there today.

Back for more tomorrow. 2-4" refresher coming in tonight. Happy November.

One of the best November's ever for East Coast skiers.
It's literally the best eastern start in history since records have been kept at the Mt. Mansfield snow stake.

But even with that I'm surprised the pictures look this good in terms of the woods with people saying they're not hitting anything. Usually with only 3 feet of snow there will still be plenty of snow snakes to the point there's no way in hell I'd be skiing fast in the woods right now, but I'm seeing videos of people just ripping.

I was thinking exactly that going into the weekend...I was excited about the woods but was like they're probably not gonna be great.

Legit midwinter coverage in there though. Maybe a couple areas that I remember from last year that you had to watch out for a bit more, but 95% of it was just totally caution free skiing.

Same thing at Jay. Skied the woods (Timbuktu, Kitz, hell’s woods and bonaventura) all day hit nothing.

I was expecting to see more brown on the lower mountain this morning but still looks all white from the cams. That natural base is gonna freeze solid so if the snow showers this weekend produce maybe we will be back on the good stuff sooner than later?

Thanks to Mother Nature for laying down a record deep snowpack for this time of year, and the incredible work of our snowmaking team, we are excited to announce that we plan to have over 50 trails open on Friday, totaling 20+ miles and 225 acres of terrain!

On Mount Mansfield, that includes groomed snowmaking routes like Lord, North Slope, Sunrise and Standard, plus a wide variety of terrain that will be open on natural snow such as Nosedive, Hayride, and the fabled Front Four.

Snowed most of the day, really picked up in the afternoon. Trails got better as the day went on. More snow till midnight, really helped turn the mountain around from the thaw freeze event. Reporting from the snow capital of the east!
