I was thinking the same thing...I thought it would give me a better chance to click on all the boxes....That did not work!!:dunce:

No winners among myself, wife, 4 kids or 6 coworkers.
Does anybody win?

Hey there, folks. Seems like a good place to introduce myself. My name is Gabriel -- I run stratton.com and handle eCommerce for the resort. I am (we are) pretty excited about this expanded Snow Days contest. Sorry we couldn't run the more "message-board-friendly" First Thousand contest we had last season. But as I'm sure you can imagine, that sort of thing gives a hefty advantage to "wired" types like those of you who can instantly tip each other off to the contest's existence. Things went viral in a hurry last time around, and a lot of people felt like they blinked and the opportunity came and went.

Anyway, this year's contest has a street value of around three quarters of a million dollars. So there's definitely more schwag to go around 8)

To address the above concerns:
1) No, it doesn't make any difference to the instant win engine whether you sign up for the promotional messages or not. However, I'd like to think they're worth signing up for: we're putting a lot of thought into how exactly to speak to the people who sign up. As the person who greenlights most every mass email that goes out the door, it's important to me that every message convey either a killer offer with real appeal, or exciting news about stuff that's going on. We don't do any of that Coca-Cola style "Hey, this is just a reminder that we exist!" messaging.
And, as was suggested by a previous poster, we do especially want to encourage those who've never been here to give us a try.

2) Yes, lots of real people are winning; about 300 as of this writing. But we've had many thousands of entrants in just the first month of the contest, so even 10,000 tickets ends up spreading a bit thin. Keep trying!

Thanks for the feedback Gabriel.... I see your point about last year. I think stratton should get some props for even trying something like this.

Despite not being able to easily get a ticket in the first 1,000 entries, this does sound like a much better idea when you spell out the statistics like that. Good thinking Stratton, and great job on getting me to visit your site everyday in hopes that I can win a ticket! 8)

Gabriel, thanks for the insight into how the 'snow day' works this year. I have officially given up the odds are too long, I have better things to do with my time and I don't fit the Stratton demographic any way.
