Is it me or does it look to be the same size as the old one?
Her's an aerial of the old one:

I think the new lodge foot print looks quite a bit bigger.

Wow..It sure does. The left side of the old one was also a ski shop.
It's even more obvious here:

I wonder what the new route is going to be to get to the new lodge.
You mean from the parking lot?

I think it will continue to be via the wooden stairs. The ones they put in last year aren't permanent, but I think that's pretty much where the main access and egress point will be going forward. It is situated right between Clay Brook and the future site of the skier services building.

Also, the footprint of the new lodge is much larger. Note that much of the space near the base of the Gate House lift in the old lodge was just a temporary tent. I think the new lodge will be a full two stories high covering that entire footprint, plus a little wider from what I can tell. Also, with the new Timbers restaurant at Clay Brook and the impending skier services bldg, it will seem bigger still as the crowds get spread out into multiple venues.

Tin is correct. It is just under 24,000 square feet and goes North about as far as 2/3 of the old tent. The real difference is the design of the space. Castlerock Pub on the South side of the ground floor will be open for breakfast (coffee, bagels, donuts), lunch (soup and sandwiches), and apres ski (bar, snacks and entertainment on weekends and holidays). Upstairs is the food servery area on the North end and open cafeteria on the South with lots of window light and higher ceiling for air flow and comfort. The round post and beam Timbers restaurant will have over 140 seats - larger than the Mushroom. We will leave the Valley House open next year and will have food and drink vending machines and table and chairs for anyone who wants to use that area as well. The bathrooms will also be open there. I think that people will be more disperse and that it will feel far less crowded on the busiest days. Allyn's lodge will also be open and run by us this year.

Two points of access like this year. The stairs will be 8 or so fewer and one can also walk to the South of Claybrook as you could this year. Parking will be closer as there will be no construction fence and the overall main parking area also has more parking spaces when the final site work is completed.

The timber for the new Timbers is scheduled to start going up right after the 4th and take about 3 weeks to complete. It is like a barn raising. The steel for the "new" Gate House
is to arrive next week.
