Headed up to Sugarloaf for some hiking and spring skiing. Bluebird skys and 50 degree temps. Headed up Boardwalk around 10:30 and crossed over Lower Winter's Way. Areas of snow on these trails so switched over to snowshoes at this point. Crossed over to Spillway, which was covered in snow and looked like it had been groomed to perfection. At the top of Spillway found a sunny spot to relax and enjoy the beautiful view. Katahdin was an image of snowy dreaminess. Sluice shoot had plenty of snow on it, but crossed over to Upper Narrow Gauge. The snow conditions were unbelievable. Soft spring snow where your skiis just carved into smoothness. Was able to ski over to Candyside and ski down near the Super Quad. Saw about five other hikers and skiiers and even a few dogs who were enjoying the spring snow and conditions. Enjoy the pics, can't wait to do it all again next weekend. Both Sluice and Narrow Gauge look like they will hold their snow for awhile, but we will probably check out King Pine.

Nice pictures, I guess that Sugarloaf could have easily made it to the original closing date of today?

The Sugarloaf chat mentioned that Bombardier is using the slopes as a late season test center, so you got grooming as a bonus in spots.

Thanks for sharing the pictures

Gotta get to Sugarloaf fast! That's too much good snow to waste. Conditions there look waaaaaaay better than at Killington last Saturday (4/22).

It is forecast to be fairly cold for late April over the next few days/week in the Sugarloaf area. I would say that Ramdown had the deepest base last week and White Nitro/Wedge where not far behind with snowcover. There should be good skiing into May.

1st post and already making us look bad. Look at the stud in the 2nd pic, carrying the lady's skis on his pack on the climb up in addition to his own.
i think it is the other way around! it takes a man to stand up to a whinny woman and make sure that she carries her weight! i think it is embarassing not carrying your own stuff. i would do that too.... if i was hiking with a five year old

loafer4life, if that was you in the pic, just kidding man! ;) though that dude is obviously whipped

hey hey hey

I am the "whinny" woman mentioned in the last post. My pack didn't have the ability to carry skiis on the back, so my husband, being the sweet gentleman he is, offered to carry them for me. Not to mention I am 7 weeks pregnant, but that's besides the point. Whipped?? Hmmm....plead the fifth on that one.
