Which one is better at late December, Sugarloaf or Stowe? The better one for me is simply the one with more trails open. We're trying to decide where to go after Christmas and we're booking it soon.

Thanks

I think Stowe. The Loafs biggest snow months are March and April and they do not get as much snow as Stowe over a whole year. Also, the long term forecast, for what they are worth, seem to suggest a very good early season for Stowe.

Not 100% sure, but late December still can be a crapshoot no matter where you go. That being said and as much as I love Sugarloaf, I think Stowe would be your safest bet. Not only is the snow more evenly spread out through the year (The Loaf can be very lean until you get to the last three months, which can be epic) at Stowe, but I am guessing they might be more aggresive with their snowmaking because of the econmics and clientel. Plus your looking for varied trails.
